How to use the Collingwood Public Library
Get yourself a library card.
General Membership is available at no charge for residents of the Town of Collingwood. Please bring in a current piece of identification with your street address on it. (This could be a tax bill, a recent utility bill, or a telephone bill). Children 17 years of age and under need a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

Borrowing Materials: Loan Periods
The loan period for most materials is 3 weeks, including; Books, Magazines, CDs, cassettes and ‘Talking Books’.
The loan period for videocassettes and DVDs is 1 week
Best-sellers and high demand items may be borrowed for 1 week
Special holiday loan periods, of non-high demand items, may be available, upon request.
Books on Wheels
This programme provides reading materials to those individuals who are unable to visit the library in person, possibly with visual or physical disabilities that require special reading materials such as large print or talking books.
With the help of volunteers who choose the material, and the KInettes who assist with delivering it, the library is able to serve the shut-ins in Collingwood.
Please note:
Lost or Damaged materials are subject to replacement charges.
Borrowing privileges are suspended when outstanding fines and charges exceed $5.00
Material may be returned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
While the Library is open, please return materials to the circulation desk.
And after hours, use the drop box at the east side of the main entrance.
Accessing Your Personal Library Record
To access your Library Record through the Online Catalogue you will need:
- Your membership card number.
- Use of a PIN (Personal Identification Number) which may be obtained at the Library.
Placing holds
- You can place a hold on a circulating item by using our Online Catalogue (accessible by our website: www.collingwoodpubliclibrary.ca , or by phoning us at (705) 445-1571.
Renewing materials
Videos may not be renewed, but all other materials may be renewed for two additional loan periods, unless a hold has been placed on the material.
Materials may be renewed in the following ways:
- Through our Online Catalogue, click on ‘Look at my Account’.
- Call the Circulation desk at (705) 445-1571
- In the Library, using the Online Catalogue, or ask staff for assistance
Lost Cards
Treat your library card like a Credit Card. You are responsible for any item borrowed on this card until it has been reported lost. Lost cards should be reported immediately to avoid misuse. The charge for a lost card replacement is $2.00
Address Changes
Changes in personal information, such as address, telephone number or email address should be reported immediately.
