Library welcomes new children’s supervisor

Collingwood, ON. January 31, 2012 – Visitors to the Bessie Saunders Children’s Library at the Collingwood Public Library will notice a new face amongst the bookshelves. The Library is pleased to announce the arrival of Ashley Kulchycki, our new Supervisor, Children and Teen Services. Only having arrived at the Library a few weeks ago, Ashley is quickly becoming known for her friendly smile and enthusiastic attitude.

“We’d like to extend a warm welcome to Ashley who is already making a positive impact on the children’s department in these few short weeks,” says Lynda Reid, acting director. “Ashley came to us highly recommended and she has valuable Library knowledge from her previous employment.”

Ashley holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario, located in her hometown of London, Ontario. After graduating she travelled to the small town of Thompson, Manitoba to work for the town’s public library. Ashley garnered a variety of library experience in Thompson including collection development, teen and children’s programming, grant writing and customer service skills.

“I’m excited to have joined the Collingwood Public Library’s children’s department. I’ve begun to meet the parents and children that use the Library and they’ve all been quite welcoming. I’m in the midst of learning about our customer’s needs and brainstorming ideas for new programmes and improved services,” says Ashley.

In her new role, Ashley will provide overall direction and guidance to the Children and Teen Services Department bringing fresh ideas to engage the community. She is currently underway planning new programmes for the upcoming months such as the Forest of Reading and Storytime. Patrons should keep an eye out for some new ideas for toddlers to teens as Ashley settles in to her position.

The Library welcomes patrons to drop by and meet Ashley in the upcoming weeks. You can reach Ashley by phone at (705) 445-1571 ext. 6234 or email at akulchycki@collingwoodpubliclibrary.ca.
